What if this was it?

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

It's easy to find ourselves in the never ending cycle of "it's never enough".

No matter what we accomplish (big or small), we beat ourselves up for what we haven't done.

When we reach a goal, we often barely acknowledge it. We then convince ourselves that we must keep going and reaching higher and bigger. We tell ourselves that we aren't doing enough. We don't even allow ourselves to feel and receive accolades for the effort we did put into reaching that goal and gloss over or even shrug off how far we have come. We continue to ignore our body, dig deeper and push even harder.

We compare ourselves to others and think we should be doing more, crushing bigger goals, looking thinner or being stronger, travelling more, going faster or that we should be further along then we are right now.

I would be happier if... or I'll be happy once I get "there"...

When we are playing this game we fall into the trap that happiness is "out there". We believe all of those people who "flaunt" their wealth and give the image that everything is "perfect" all of the time and think that in order to be happy we need x, y, z.

What if THIS was it? .. could you be happy?

What if nothing changed and this is exactly where you stayed - I'm not saying it is, I know you are meant for greatness!!.. BUT ... could you be happy?

She reminds me to explore and inspires me to play every single day.

Happiness comes from within. It comes from being present and choosing to be.

It comes when we let go of what "should" be and accept what is.. for this moment.

It comes when we choose to see our present moment as extraordinary and find something to smile about... anything- and yes, there is always something.

Chasing extraordinary moments expecting them to make you happy leads to a life of "it's never enough". Become happy ( yes, it's a choice we all must make) and extraordinary moments will weave their way into your life.

When chaos hits and we start rushing around, falling into our old pattern of doing rather than being, we slip into "it's never enough"/ I'm not enough... and see all that's bad in the world.

Stop! Catch yourself ( it's the mean girl inside your head talking- it in NOT the truth) and soften your eyes.

Breathe. Release your jaw and relax your shoulders out of your ears.

Breathe deeper... we are often breathless when we rush through life.

Now look around and be willing to see "it" again for the first time.

Smile.

What is good in your world right now?

Seeing what is good, creates more good.

"Happiness and joy are generated by choice and attitude not circumstance and accumulation."
