How can you add more beauty into your home and your environment to help keep you above all of this chaos?
When the stress is high our brains often gravitate to only seeing the mess, the chaos and what is bad in the world. Unfortunately, this will throw you deeper into a downward spiral of lack, scarcity and seeing ( and receiving) more "bad", lack and scarcity in your world.
I speak from 100% experience on this one guys. Just over a year ago I realized that my brain was wired for victimhood from my beliefs and stories I was telling myself. It fed on making me suffer. When things were "bad" I allowed my emotions to take over, drain me, throw me into a funk, feel like I wasn't enough, like life sucked and I was constantly fighting this depression and sorrow in the background. I wasn't showing up as my best because I was too busy feeling sorry for myself.
In order to attract more good, we must first be willing to see more good.
My victim was so strong that I literally had to trick my brain on this one and I want to share what's worked for me AND what I've been doing to stay grounded and calm during these stressful times.
I "plant" beauty and things that make me smile or bring me joy around my house! Yup! It sounds silly and ridiculously simple but trust me, it helps change your state of being and your focus. As you smile and feel happy from these little things you've planted for yourself, you will feel yourself elevate to a happier mood and higher state of well-being.
Your life and present moment are based on your thoughts, beliefs and choices from the past and your future will be based on the thoughts, beliefs and choices you choose for yourself TODAY.
So, let's plant some JOY bundles around our house to keep us smiling and attracting more good in our lives.
Here's what I do:
I buy myself fresh flowers and put them in my kitchen- every time I walk by them I am reminded of the beauty of nature and to slow down and "smell the flowers". I often lean in and take a moment to appreciate and have gratitude to the beauty of flowers.
I have a candle in every room - I love the ritual of lighting a candle and letting go or releasing what is no longer serving me. I love the smell and the sound. I find it helps calm my nerve system and breathe deeper. #coalandcanary
I have some of my favourite inspiration or poetry books #atticuspoetry in every bathroom. As I always aim to drink 6 L of water a day, I am regularly going to the washroom lol. A short poem or something inspiring ( a page or so) reminds me to slow down, breathe and gets me reflecting on that message.. a great distraction if all you've been focusing on is stress.
I have crystals placed where I will easily see them. They are so beautiful and sparkly that I am in awe plus they are so grounded and calming in nature.
I'll mindfully collect things that intrigue, inspire me or remind me of good times and I put them out to connect to that experience or moment in time.
These are a few ideas to get you going- take what you want or leave it all. Surrounding yourself with beauty is essential in keeping you happy and well when the stress is high. You choose.
I do this regularly to stay elevated so I can be more resourceful and grounded rather than reactionary and panicked.
