The Holiday season is just around the corner (yayyyyyyyyy!!!) and with it comes nights of celebration and indulgence ( I call it my "Cheese board season haha!). After a night of eating delicious foods and delighting in holiday beverages, it’s so easy to throw all good habits out the door and continue self sabotaging the next day (.. and even for the entire month).. but getting myself up off the floor and course correcting immediately has been a game changer for me.
It often involves me being creative and even tricking my mind ( because all it wants to do is keep self sabotaging because I feel sluggish or horrrrrrible ) and abusing my body with what I eat and how I behave. I'm also a lot more judgmental of myself and others on these days.
I have a"Healthy Counterbalance" routine that works for me and thought it could help you too:
Top 3 strategies for staying on track after a night of indulgence :)
1. When I want to be at my best movement is key!!! It helps shake things up and I always have more energy and feel happier. On these days ( when I am not feeling so hot) I usually put my timer on for 12 minutes and do fun movement, dance , just move , walk or run in nature and shake things up!!
2. I Drink a lot of water - I aim for my weight in ounces on these days because I am usually dehydrated to some degree. I add Vitamin C ( 1 tsp 4-6/day) and Chlorophyll ( 2-4 tsp/day) to my water ( separately) to help my body detox and decrease inflammation.
3. I give myself permission to rest. I Nap, take care of and nurture of myself. I have a tendency to be extra critical, mean and hard on myself on these days (almost to keep punishing my body or something) so I am also very aware of my self -talk and language. I'll even give myself a "time-out" to gather myself and regroup if needed.
Adopting the hard/easy (doing what’s hard now - short term, to make my life easy - long term) helps me stay in line with my health and well-being goals and is truly a gesture of self love.
These help me feel better and stay consistent with the level of health and well being that I want and need to fulfill my roles and my purpose on this planet.
Staying consistent (no matter what it looks like) is so key to being your best you!!
