Make it sacred.

Take an extra 2 beats and hold that hug.

When making the bed, do it from a place of gratitude and of service. Slow down. Breathe. How can you trick your brain from rushing through to get onto the next thing to doing it in full presence and eventually even gratitude.

When preparing food, bless the food and infuse it with love.

When returning your cart at the grocery store, take a deep breath and mindfully put it back so it is ready for the next person. How you do anything is how you do everything.

Pay attention to the world around you. How can you be of service? How can you add beauty?

When I'm feeling rushed and wanting to just get something done, I will try to catch myself and say, "make it sacred Lis".

This year, for the first time ever, I was able to go snowboarding purely for the joy of it. My mind wanted to justify why I was there ( like every single time I've done it before), that I was getting a good workout, that I was getting a bunch of fresh air, that I was doing something productive in my day, that this is a role model of a healthy lifestyle AND also wanting to think about being done so I can move on to the rest of my day, the rest of my to-do list. I smiled and took a deep breath.

"I am here for pure pleasure, because I want to be here! I am here to spend time with my husband and forget about the world around us, I am here because my heart and soul feels alive. I am here, in this very moment to be exactly where I am.. right now. "

Leisure, pleasure, fun and play are things that I robbed myself from doing for so many years because I didn't want to be seen as lazy and unproductive. I was way too concerned about what others think of me and the facade that went along (how exhausting) and as a result didn't get to experience the magic that happens when being exactly where your feet are.

How can you make this moment sacred?

Even the things you don't like doing- remember me and the dishwasher? I now smile (instead of internally throwing a tantrum), and connect to my breath as I unload and put things away. The crazy part is that I feel more energized and happy when I am done- I hadn't realized how much of a drain it was on my energy.

It's a huge drain but be putting out "hate" into the world, no matter how big or small it may seem- one that you won't realize until you start making these subtle shifts for yourself.

How can you have deep gratitude for the things you do, your body and the world around you?

Only you can choose how you show up in the world. Only you can choose to pour beauty into everything that you do. Only you can choose to make ordinary moments extraordinary.

That's where joy resides.

You got this. You were born for this - but first you need to grow into the person you need to become. The person who weaves beauty everywhere she goes, has a deep appreciation for life, has a heart of service, has gratitude for her body, her day and the people around and makes the world a better place just by her presence.

Be that person.

Start small and commit to the everyday tasks ( making your bed, emptying the dishwasher, putting away your grocery cart, making dinner, cleaning up after dinner, cleaning... well, you get it! There are many opportunities :).

Make it sacred.
